Funding Opportunities

Movember’s current strategic priorities are mental health and suicide prevention, prostate cancer and testicular cancer. All funding opportunities are guided by these priorities and our governance committees.

How we fund

Funding opportunities usually become available via open funding calls. They are released at different times and for different strategic priorities dependent on funding available in the market. Each opportunity explains the eligibility and evaluation criteria, key dates and deadlines and is clear on how applications need to be structured and submitted. Selection of successful applications are managed through strict governance processes.

It is Movember’s policy that funding is not to be used for institutional expenses and 100% of the funding will be applied to research, health services interventions and their evaluation.

Movember invests in specific programs and initiatives under the guidance of our expert advisory committees. This allows us to consolidate the resource and address key focus areas in a consistent, strategy-aligned manner. We are therefore unable to review or consider direct and unsolicited funding requests.

Frequently asked questions

I don’t want funding, but I’d like to partner with the Movember and I have a product, service or organisation that you would be interested in. How can I do this?

Get in touch via our contact us page.

When are you releasing funding?

The best way to find out about future funding opportunities is to join our funding notifications database by filling out the form above. We will notify you via email when open opportunities are released in your region.

What will I need to include in my application for funding?

Each funding call will detail what information needs to be included within the application and how it will be evaluated. As part of our governance processes we are unable to provide this information prior to the call being released.

What is your eligibility criteria?

Eligibility criteria varies depending on the priority area and requirements of the project. All the relevant information will be detailed in the application documents, which will be sent to those on the funding notification database.

I don’t want to complete a formal application, because I have a small project that only requires a small investment of funds. Can you help?

We don’t accept direct and unsolicited requests for funding. Our funding is primarily allocated through funding calls or expressions of interest and the best way to find out about them is to add your details to the funding notification database via the form above.

Can I send a survey to the Movember community, or get in touch with the researchers you work with directly?

We do not normally support recruitment for research other than projects that the Movember funds, so we’re unable to assist with this kind of request.

Can you help me with recruitment for my research or clinical trial?

We don’t have access to individual patient data and can’t assist with this kind of request.

How can I apply for funding for equipment or infrastructure?

Outside of specific funding calls, we don’t fund infrastructure grants.

I am looking for funding for a project that isn’t part of your focus areas, can I still apply for funding?

You’re welcome to add your details to our funding database to receive information on funding opportunities, however we will continue to fund according to our strategic priority areas before expanding the health issues we address.

How can I find out about the projects you’ve already funded?

Take a look at The Work We Fund for information on projects we’ve funded.
